What is a scale calibration?
It is not rocket science, that's for sure! However, you do need to know what you are doing if you want your scale calibrated correctly. Oh, and you need certified test weights to insure that your calibration is correct. So let us ease your mind. We can do all that. Calibration of your scale is just setting the correct weight being measured when using correct and true weights.
In addition to calibrating a scale, we do a multi-point check on the scale. We test for zero, repeat zero, we check for any obstructions, debris or mechanical binding around the scale, and we test the keyboard functions of the scale. Our tests are done according to NIST Handbook 44 with increase and decrease test loads. We calibrate the scale according to the manufacturer's instructions. We test our calibration with the appropriate test loads. We provide our customers with written report certificates, certification stickers applied to the scale with the next due date showing or both. Certificates are copied and filed here at Amtex Scale upon request.
We spend, literally, thousands of dollars each year keeping our weights calibrated and certified to assure that your calibrations will be accurate and traceable.
We even have the capability to calibrate mechanical scales.
Most of our customers rely on us to calibrate their scales at least once or twice a year. Some want us to calibrate their scales monthly. You certainly don't want to give away your products by not having a correct scale. Calibrations performed regularly makes really good sense. Discounts are considered for our quarterly and monthly "calibrations" customers.
